Sustainability
is important to us!
2024
Ober-Seemen was converted from full feed-in to self-consumption:
At the Ober-Seemen site, the PV system was converted from full feed-in to self-consumption.Ober-Seemen PV storage retrofit
Ober-Seemen PV storage retrofit
We also want to make EPOLOG even more sustainable in 2024, which is why we are also planning to install a PV storage system in Ober-Seemen this year.
2023
Erlensee PV storage system expanded:
The PV storage system has been doubled in order to consume even more sustainably produced electricity in the future and continue to reduce the burden on the environment.
Unterhaun PV storage system retrofitted:
A PV storage system was retrofitted at the Unterhaun site in order to consume even more sustainably produced electricity in future and continue to reduce the burden on the environment.
2022
Conversion to electric forklift trucks:
Location: Unterhaun and Erlensee
We have switched to electric forklifts in Unterhaun and Erlensee. Reduction in emissions per forklift: 5.34 t CO² eq/a.
E-forklift Erlensee
2021
photovoltaic system:
Location: Erlensee
In Erlensee, a PV system with a PV module output of 99.75 kWp with storage options and self-consumption also went into operation in September 2021. This also saves approx. 45.95 tons of CO2 per year. In 20 years, approx. 919 tons of CO2 will be saved!
2020
Reachstacker with special Eco machine:
Location: Hamburg
We have purchased a new reachstacker with a special eco-machine for our Hamburg site. We have thus found an eco-efficient solution with significantly lower fuel consumption than the previous alternatives.
Forklift fleet converted to equipment with the latest emissions standard:
Location: Hamburg + Ober-Seemen
Our entire forklift truck fleet in Hamburg is being converted to equipment with the latest emission standards. At our Ober-Seemen site, diesel forklifts have been converted to electric forklifts. In Erlensee and Unterhaun, forklifts are also being converted from diesel forklifts to electric forklifts.
2017
Wood chip heating:
Location: Ober-Seemen
In Ober-Seemen, we have installed a wood chip heating system with an output of 500 KW. Compared to heating systems using fossil fuels, wood chip systems are considered to be environmentally friendly. A wood chip system produces significantly fewer climate-relevant emissions than fossil fuels!
Drying chamber:
Location: Ober-Seemen
We produce the wood chips ourselves with a chipper from our waste that inevitably accumulates as offcuts during production. This enables us to avoid additional disposal costs. We use this to heat our drying kiln, which went into operation in January 2017 to dry the boards and squared timber we process.
2015
Lighting and heating retrofitted:
Location: Unterhaun
Back in 2015, we converted the lighting in our hall in Unterhaun to energy-saving LED lighting with sensor switching.
In the same year, the hall’s heating system was also converted from a fan heater to an energy-efficient modulating dark radiator heater.
Photovoltaic system
Location: Unterhaun
Our new photovoltaic system (PV system) in Unterhaun goes into operation in April 2015. This produces environmentally friendly solar power for our own consumption and feeds into the public grid every year.
System output: 211.395 kWp
Annual production: approx. 179,686 kWh (850 kWh/kWp)
CO2 avoidance: approx. 125.8 tons per year
Conversion to LED lighting
Location: Ober-Seemen
In order to save even more energy, we have converted the lighting at our site in Ober-Seemen to LED and sensor switching. In addition to their energy efficiency, LEDs have a long service life, which means that fewer light sources need to be disposed of.
